I was raised around a lot of horses but my children have not have had very many opportunites to ride. So we decided to take riding lessons down here. Two problems; the instructor does not speak any English, and two, I have never ridden English-style before. WOW, is it different. I am missing a big comfy western saddle! Or lets say, my back side is missing a western saddle.
The kids are doing great though. They have no fear. They get right on and go. I am so proud of them. The instructor is also great and so patient with us! We take lessons three days a week, for an hour in the morning and for the 3 weeks cost us a total of $163. We could not pass up the chance to try something different for such a reasonable cost.
The Horse Club is very nice and keeps pretty busy with the "upper end" Cochabambian children and adults. Like in European countries, it is a status symbol to have horses or take English riding lessons. We are just having fun. Although, the kids say they want to take lessons when we get back home. We will have to see!
